This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Frozen Flatlands race! Please plan to join us for a great weekend of racing around the Spokane area. Over the years we have seen variations of the format and courses used and this year is no exception. You are responsible for reading and following the rules in this guide and the rules of the USAC.
Race Highlights
- This year in honor of the 20th anniversary of the race, we have doubled the prize money to $2,000! Prize money comes from the racer registrations and is not provided by any sponsorships.
- An individual time trial has been added.
- The road race has been moved to Saturday following the time trial. New road race distance for Men Pro,1,2, Women 4, and Juniors.
- A women's cycling 101 clinic will be held on the weekend of the race. Details Now Posted Below!
- The Men's Pro 1, 2 and Womens Pro 1,2 are included in the Washington Cup Series. Points are awarded for the entire omnium.
- The omnium is included in the LAJRS NW Jr Team Racing Series

Purse / Awards
Based on the total number of riders registered (all fields) with a maximum total purse of $2,000 to cover all fields.
- Prizes to the top 5 finishers in each field. (except Juniors, see notes below)
- Fields of fewer than 4 riders will be combined with other fields.
- Awards for GC only. Awards available at the event or they can/will be mailed after the event if needed.
- Primes may also be awarded in the circuit race.
- Senior Men Pro,1,2 - $500 total purse
- Senior Men 3 - $300 total purse
- Senior Men 4/5 - $180 total purse
- Master Men A - $180 total purse
- Master Men B - $180 total purse
- Master Men C - $180 total purse
- Women A 1,2,3 - $300 total purse
- Women B 4 - $180 total purse
- Juniors - Medals
Points
This event follows the rules and regulations for an omnium race as stated in the USAC rulebook. Note: Omnium points are given to riders who place in any OR all of the three individual races of the omnium. Riders DO NOT have to ride every event to earn points for the overall omnium placings. USAC rule 1A16.
Time Trial - the following points scale shall apply to the 1st to 10th places respectively:
10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2 and 1 point. (USAC rule 4C4a)
Road Race & Circuit Race - the following points scale shall apply to the 1st to 15th places respectively:
25,20,16,14,12,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2 and 1 point. (USAC rule 4C4a)
Any ties will be broken per USAC rule 4C4c.

Results will be provided by GC Racing.

Registration will be handled by SportsBaseOnline. Pre-Registration Only, Deadline April 1st at midnight. No Refunds

Fees:
$32 for a single event (no change for the last 2 years!)
$60 for the entire omnium (all 3 events)
Note: the entire omnium price is an increase of $8 over last year but now includes a third event (the time trial) and an increase in the prize money! Promoter pays the registration processing fees.
All racers must sign in/check in for each event you are registered to race!
Number Placement
You will use the same number given to you at registration check in for both days of racing. Don't forget your number on the second day! WSBA numbers are not used for this event. Numbers are to be worn on the right side both days and must be clearly visible for the camera at the finish line. Frame numbers also must be used and be clearly visible. Special Rules / Notices
- Omnium points are given to riders who place in any OR all of the three individual races of the omnium. Riders DO NOT have to ride every event to earn points for the overall omnium placings. USAC rule 1A16.
- Read the USAC rule book for additional rules regarding racing. If you don't have your copy, a copy can be found at www.usacycling.org.
- No parking is available at the finish line of the road race. Officials working the finish line will utilize the existing parking areas.
- Make sure your bicycle is in good operating condition and you are not missing handlebar end plugs, etc.
- Four (4) racers make a field! If the field is not met, the racers will race in their USAC categories. Categories may be split or combined if required.
- Junior gears will be in effect.
- Only USA Cycling licenses will be honored. Canadians must race on their UCI license when they come to the USA. One day licenses can only be purchased by cat 5 men and cat 4 women. Cat 4 men and cat 3 women and above are required to purchase an annual license available at www.usacycling.org. But, we encourage everyone to purchase or renew your license before this event! It will help speed up the registration/check-in process.
- If you have an annual racing license, you MUST bring it with you. Having the number on your release form is not enough.

Women's Cycling 101 Clinic
I will be conducting our Women's Cycling 101 Clinic on Thursday afternoon, April 2, from 4:00-7:00 at Vertical Earth, with an optional team/group ride on Friday afternoon to practice the skills we discuss on Thursday. Admission ($45) to the clinic for Riverstone Team Racers is free, and 20% off for Riverstone Team Riders. This clinic will be open to women everywhere, so tell your friends! We'll talk everything cycling related, and include some racing-related tips, too.

If you are a Riverstone Team Rider, the cost for you is $36. You can bring cash or check to the clinic, or drop it by the shop.
This will be an informative afternoon/evening of basic skills, cycling, and racing information, and I encourage you to bring yourself, your friends, and your friend's friends! It's an event open to any female cyclist (or any female interested in cycling).
